PEEK - High-Performance Thermoplastic Guide Strips
Hydraulic cylinders use fibre-reinforced non-metallic strips to guide rods and pistons with minimum friction and to absorb transverse forces. Highly demanding applications often require the transmission of strong, pulsating transverse forces in small movements.
Hoven Hydraulik has developed an innovative solution for extreme operating conditions of hydraulic cylinders. A series of extensive tests have shown polyetheretherketone (PEEK) to be an ideal material for guide strips. PEEK offers an above-average combination of resistance and toughness.
PEEK strips vastly outperform fibre-reinforced strips
The material is characterised by maximum strength, excellent frictional properties and high impact resistance even at high operating temperatures. Diagonal grooves in the guide strips ensure that the lubricating film is constantly exchanged during very small cylinder strokes. This effectively prevents the formation of deposits.
