They are used at devices in power electronics with AC voltage and frequency between 50 and 500 Hz (sometimes 5k Hz), where switching of diodes and tyristors can occur different oscillations.

Types of capacitors and their use:
 

• KNI 3xxx - Capacitors for power electronics – direct current (AC/DC) – they are used like impulsive, filtering, and smoothing capacitors in power electronic devices (usually in commutators).
   
• KNI 20xx - Capacitors for power electronics – direct current (AC/DC) – they are used like impulsive, filtering, and smoothing capacitors in power electronic devices (usually in commutators and lasers).

• KNI 50xx - Capacitors for power electronics - alternating current (AC) – they are used like impulsive, filtering, and smoothing capacitors in power electronic devices (usually in commutators and lasers) and like dumping capacitors in AC applications.
